Motorola rumoured to be starting afresh after Xoom

Motorola are reported to be reducing shipments of their Xoom tablet in order to develop another competitor to Apple’s iPad 2 device.The Xoom – which was unveiled only a few short months ago at CES – was due to ship between 700,000 and 800,000 units in the first quarter of 2011, a target that the company look likely to reach after shipping over 200,000 in February and with 500,000 more expected to ship by the end of March.
However, Taiwanese news agency, Digitimes are reporting that orders are set to drop month-on-month as we enter the second quarter, before completely fizzling out before the end of June.

Toshiba plan new Android tablet

Toshiba have announced plans to release a new tablet onto the market, supporting Google’s Android Honeycomb OS.The as yet unnamed, 10.1 inch tablet will feature Toshiba’s Adaptive Display technology, which reacts to lighting conditions and adjusts settings such as brightness and contrast accordingly.
The next-gen device will be powered by a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, allowing the slate to produce hi-definition, 1280 x 800 pixel resolution.

Excitement builds for Motorola Xoom tablet

Excitement is building for the new Motorola Xoom tablet after it was showcased at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, amid rumours that a release date announcement is only days away.The Tegra 2 powered device truly wowed audiences at MWC as Motorola demonstrated some of the features that it hopes will make the Xoom the first serious competitor to the iPad.

Dell’s tablet plans for the next year revealed in leak

A leaked ‘Tablet Roadmap’ from Dell has revealed some of the company’s plans for the coming year.
The roadmap – picked up by Android Central – outlines plans for an April release of a new 10 inch tablet supporting Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb as well as a similarly sized tablet running Windows 7, and a whole host of other devices.

September release date for Sony’s Qriocity S1 tablet

Sony’s new Android tablet – the Qriocity S1 – is due for release in September of this year, according a report by Endgadget.
The tech site reported that the information on the tablet originated from two “highly trusted and independent sources”.
The tablet is expected to be 9.4 inches in size and will run Google’s Android 3.0 operating system – otherwise known as Honeycomb. Other specs include an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core processor chip and front and rear facing cameras.
