Seagate releases Goflex Slim, a tiny external hard drive at laptopshop.co.ukIrish/U.S. storage manufacturers, Seagate have launched the Goflex Slim, an external hard drive of miniscule proportions.

The Goflex Slim measures a tiny 2.5 inches and is only 9mm thick – or, as the manufacturers say, “thinner than a pencil” – making it the ideal storage option for an ultra-portable laptop or netbook.

The company, who began as disc drive manufacturers way back in 1978, are no strangers to lightweight and slimline designs; the previous incarnation of the Goflex hard drive was commended for its streamlined profile. The Goflex Slim, however, is 38% thinner than its predecessor.

First unveiled at the CES event back in January, the Goflex Slim provides 320GB of storage in a 7200RPM hard drive. It is equipped with USB 3.0 connectivity but also supports USB 2.0.

The Goflex Slim is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems and is able to share data between the two OSs without any need for reformatting. Seagate have also included backup software as part of the bundle, which backs up and encrypts data continuously and automatically.

The Goflex Slim 320GB external hard drive is available now and retails at £79.99
