AMD Fusion “AMD Llano processors are on track” say analysts at laptopshop.co.ukAnalysts, Sterne Agee are contradicting recent reports by stating that AMD’s upcoming Llano processor chips will be shipping in April after all.

AMD had been hit by reports that the devlopment of their new chipsets had fallen behind schedule, but Sterne Agee analyst, Vijay Rakesh reassured shareholders that the Llano microprocessor would indeed feature in HP and Acer devices shipping in Q2 of 2011.

Rakesh stated that “it had always been his expectation” that Llano would ship in the third quarter, and that “this is consistent with what he has heard from AMD”.

He also reported that another of AMD’s chips that has been in development recently – the Bulldozer – is expected to ship in Q3. The Bulldozer is currently on trial with customers.

Rakesh’s comments seem to have helped rebuild shareholder confidence in AMD following the earlier reports; AMD’s shares rose today, by half a point, to $8.39 each.

AMD’s Llano processors are the next in the Fusion range; the high-performance, low-energy consumption chips that have been spearheading processor design in recent months. Llano is the fist Fusion chip to be quad-core and will be able to process “three separate compute-and-graphics-intensive workloads” according to AMD.

The company will be hoping that his muscular processor follows in the footsteps of its successful predecessors, the Zacate and Ontario chips, when it ships next month.
