Samsung TX100 Tablet PC / Netbook hybrid on Windows 7 will be out soon

At CES, Samsung unveiled the TX100, a tablet/netbook hybrid that looks set to be the flagship of a flotilla of releases in 2011.
The Intel Atom powered PC supports Microsoft’s Windows 7 OS and features a sliding 10.1 inch touchscreen. Sliding the TX100’s screen backwards not only reveals a physical keyboard for netbook use, but also triggers the appearance of a “netbook-style user interface” on the desktop.
Samsung are hoping this simple transition will give the TX100 the edge over other, similar devices, and also had a few words to say about possible applications for the device.
“We see the TX100 as an exciting prospect for education – due to its portability and ability to perform as a netbook or tablet.” Said Darren Matthews, general manager of Samsung’s computing division; “We’re committed to improving and diversifying learning experiences through technology and are constantly looking for ways to develop our technology for use in the classroom.”
Other Samsung devices heading our way include the ZX310 netbook with its fairly self-explanatory “SuperBright Plus” display, the turbo-charged R-series – which Samsung claim will fully power up in less than three seconds – and the NB30 devices, which focus on extended battery life.
Continuing the education theme, a relaunch of Samsung’s SF310 netbook – a device aimed at the “style conscious student”, Samsung say – could provide just the thing to help you through those January exams.
