Refurbished laptops – they might not even have been used
Posted on November 19th, 2009 No comments
What are refurbished laptops? The categorisation can mean many things.
Sometimes the original buyer whips off the packaging, prises open the box and then feels “buyer’s remorse,” and simply decides to return it. They may not have even used it yet. A reputable seller will take the item, then send it to the manufacturer to be checked for defects. Once it’s determined to be operating normally, it will be confined to the refurbished laptops category.
Alternatively, the initial buyer may have had a legitimate problem with the product. Manufacturers then repair the laptop and put it back on shelves as refurbished. Sometimes manufacturers also take back older models of a product from store shelves to replace them with newer versions. The older version may be sold at a discount as refurbished.
“You really have no idea why the product has been designated as refurbished,” says Paul Eng, Web Editor for electronics for ConsumerReports.org.
“Refurbished products can be a great deal in certain situations. Sometimes a new model of a laptop, phone, or TV isn’t rated higher by reviewers than the model it replaces. Or the new features may not be important to you.”

Refurbished laptops can be the pocket friendly way to laptop happiness
Posted on September 24th, 2009 5 commentsIf you’re in the market for a new laptop, have you considered refurbished laptops? Essentially, refurbished laptops are built with components from other, older machines. They are of high quality as they are checked for optimum standards of performance at each level of technical testing – meaning you can get a branded, quality laptop of a latest model at a heavily reduced price compared to the retail price.
From time-to-time, Dell laptops or Sony laptops and other big name manufacturers are available as refurbished, with discounts as high as fifty percent. These laptops tend to be from a new range, and sometimes they are bran new models which for one reason or another were returned to the supplier.
Refurbished laptops come with a one-year warranty for peace of mind, and that warranty can also be extended. If you’re after an expensive, trendy laptop but simply cannot afford to buy one at retail price, refurbished laptops could be just the answer you’re looking for.

Demand rises for refurbished laptops
Posted on August 6th, 2009 1 commentIn the current economic climate, refurbished laptops are a pocket-pleasing option for more and more consumers.
Though there’ll always be a set amount of people who dislike the thought of using a computer someone
else has had, refurbished laptops are nothing to be frightened of. In most cases, they are just as reliable, and perhaps even more reliable, than a brand, spanking new laptop right from the shop floor.Refurbished needn’t be seen as a dirty word. Many customers are rightly wary of shelling out on a product that has failed or ‘died’ once before, but those fears can often be alleviated with this cheap laptop purchase.
Refurbished laptops are heavily put through their paces via a vast array of diagnostics to determine any underlying, current problems and are then given extra special TLC by sensitive, skilled technicians. These products are then scrutinised and restored to their original configurations - and can also be given a full warranty.
